StopCig, Benjamin Gryner’s hypnosis protocol for quitting smoking

Quit smoking with hypnosis

Quit smoking without spending every day fighting the urge.

I created the StopCig protocol to work on what keeps smoking in place: cravings, triggers, ingrained smoking habits and the unconscious link between a cigarette and relief. This dedicated smoking-cessation session is offered in person in Paris or Saint-Mandé.

Sessions are currently offered in French only.

Why quitting can be hard

The issue is not only the cigarette. It is everything that has become attached to it.

You may already have tried willpower, patches, apps, promises or scare tactics. Yet smoking can still serve a purpose: a break, a reward, a social ritual, a chance to breathe or an automatic response to stress.

Quitting is not the same as holding your breath forever.

StopCig focuses on separating relief from the cigarette, changing the way smoking is perceived and preparing for the real moments in which the old reflex usually returns.

01

Identify the triggers

Stress, coffee, phones, commuting, social events, boredom, pressure or the familiar ritual itself.

02

Break the link between the urge and the routine

Change the automatic link between a situation and a cigarette so the old response is no longer the only one available.

03

Prepare for life after cigarettes

Quitting has to work in real life: at work, around smokers, during stressful moments and when old cues reappear.

I waited three months before leaving a review because I wanted some perspective. In early January 2026, I decided to start the year by quitting smoking. After years of unsuccessful attempts, I went to Benjamin on someone’s recommendation, without really believing it would work. I left the session relaxed but still skeptical. I had taken a picture of my last cigarette before the appointment. It really was my last. Three months later, I still had not touched a cigarette—all after a single session. It was as though I had simply forgotten how to smoke. If I had known it could work this well, I would have done it much sooner. Thank you, Benjamin—you saved my lungs!

I knew nothing about hypnosis. This was my first experience, and it worked: after just one session, I stopped smoking completely. A huge thank-you!

Tomorrow marks five months without smoking, and I could not be happier. I have shared your details with three colleagues who also want to quit. Thank you again.

A quick update one week after our session: everything is going well. No cigarettes and no anxiety. I hope it lasts.

What we work on

The different roles a cigarette can play.

Not every cigarette has the same trigger. We identify the ones that matter in your own day, then work on the response that has become automatic.

A hand automatically reaching for a pack of cigarettes beside coffee and a phone

Smoking on autopilot

Lighting a cigarette before you have consciously decided to smoke.

A person breathing calmly while an unlit cigarette remains at a distance

The stress cigarette

The cigarette associated with breathing, relief or a temporary drop in tension.

A quiet break with a cup near a window and no cigarette in hand

The break cigarette

Keep the right to take a break without making that break depend on smoking.

A relaxed evening social setting without a cigarette

The social cigarette

Preparing for friends, coworkers, terraces and events where the old cue can return quickly.

A person closing a box near an open door, symbolizing a settled decision

Fear of relapse

Turning quitting into a stable decision instead of a fragile period spent waiting to fail.

The process

What happens in a StopCig session?

The appointment is built specifically around your smoking history, your decision and the situations in which cigarettes have taken on a role.

1

Understand your smoking pattern

We look at when you smoke, what cigarettes represent, previous quit attempts and why this decision matters now.

2

Work on cravings, smoking rituals, and triggers

Hypnosis focuses on learned associations—smoking as a source of calm, a break, a reward, or part of your identity.

3

Prepare a different response

We make life without cigarettes easier to picture, including the moments that previously triggered smoking almost automatically.

Common questions

What people often ask before using hypnosis to quit smoking.

Straight answers about motivation, cravings, relapse, medical care and what one focused session can realistically address.

Can hypnosis really help me quit smoking?

Hypnosis can help you work on cravings, smoking rituals, triggers, and the learned associations tied to cigarettes. It supports a genuine decision to quit; it does not make that decision for you or guarantee the same result for everyone.

Is one session always enough?

The StopCig appointment is designed as one focused, in-depth session. Many people do meaningful work in that session. A follow-up session may sometimes be helpful when several concerns overlap or when a particular trigger remains difficult.

What if I am afraid of relapsing?

We prepare for real triggers such as stress, coffee, social events, alcohol, boredom and being around smokers. The aim is to rely on more than willpower alone.

Can I do the quit-smoking session online?

No. I currently offer the StopCig smoking-cessation session in person in Paris or Saint-Mandé.

Do I need perfect motivation?

You need a genuine decision to quit, but you do not need to arrive feeling invincible. People often seek hypnosis precisely because willpower alone has not been enough.

Does hypnosis replace medical help?

No. Hypnosis does not replace medical advice, nicotine replacement or evidence-based cessation support. Those approaches can be combined when appropriate.
